With the recent green frenzy, more and more people are looking to recycle their used carboard, glass, plastic and aluminum. Now you can also recycle used ink cartridges. Most office superstores and many online locations will now accept used ink cartridges and printer toner cases and recycle them, often rewarding you with cash or store credit in the process. Here's how to do it:

To start, remove the old toner or ink cartridge. To be safe and efficient, make sure you follow the instructions with the printer.

Next, you must locate some firm or location operating an ink cartridge donation or replacement program. You can choose the one most spatially convenient to you or just go online. They vary in value depending on where you go and what you have, but generally you can expect up to $4 for an ink cartridge and $7 for a toner cartridge. For some, it's more advantageous to combine many cartridges into one shipment to cut down on costs. If you are an employee at a large office or company, this might be your best bet. Others will prefer to immediately refuse or refill them, and bring them in as soon as they go dry.

Refilling and reselling is an option, and many office superstores will do just that. You might want to take advantage of the lower cost. Bear in mind, since the structural integrity of the cartridge is compromised by the refilling process, there is a higher chance of cartridge error or some catastrophic messy error. Using a re-filled cartridge may also void the warranty on some printers, so read carefully ahead of time if you decide to re use your old cartridge.

Finally, you need to replace the cartridge. If you got it refilled at the store, go ahead and install it according to your printer's instructions. If you want to buy a new cartridge entirely, I would suggest 4inkjets.com. They're usually pretty good with sales on cheap ink cartridges.

Now you now how simple recyling ink cartridges is! Now you can be efficient, cost-effective and environmentally conscious all at once!
